After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger… and they know it
[My Review without spoilers]
Honestly speaking, I think the books just keep getting better and better. The third book picks off where the second left of and I’ve got to hand it to the author for a pretty smooth and satisfying transition.
In the second book, Daemon and Katy get home to discover that Dawson is already there. Despite their initial happiness at his arrival, everyone soon realizes that his time with the DOD has irrevocably changed him. He’s moody and silent – pining for his girlfriend (Beth) who is still in the clutches of the DOD. Unfortunately, rescuing Beth is easier said than done and the onyx isn’t helping.
This is when Blake comes into the picture. Blake who is responsible for Adam’s death is the target of everyone’s anger. Even though he deserves their anger and what he did cannot be justified, I still understand why he killed Adam. His Luxen friend was under the DOD’s thumb after all and I’m sure that Katy would have done the same if she were in his position. However, learning of his perverted side definitely turned my understanding into hatred and disgust.
Daemon and Katy’s relationship grows even more intense in this book and I feel like it has something to do with the fact that they both know they may or may not have much time left together. It’s wild unrestrained passion that flows between them and it’s sweet and almost scary at times. I like how Daemon is always there for Katy and vice versa. What they have is hard to describe but easy to understand once you read the book.
Dee is.. well frankly just a bit freaky. Adam’s death seems to affect her the most – probably because they were just beginning to really ease into a genuine relationship. Gentle, caring Dee transforms into a girl who wants to get revenge and even go so far as to kill Blake since he was responsible for Adam’s death.
All these characters felt so real to me and I truly enjoyed reading this book. I most definitely recommend this book so go read it!!! ❤
