Mini-Book Review: See Me by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads Blurb:

While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his cute Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she was led to believe.

What starts as an obligatory pairing between Robyn and McKale morphs over time into something they both need. But one giant obstacle stands in the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their people.

My Review: I didn’t expect to enjoy this story quite so much and I was expecting something a bit more cliche. Unexpectedly, this story was fresh and  interesting. I immediately liked Robyn for her “trying to make the best of things” personality. Even without knowing her betrothed she was determined to make the best out of their pre-determined relationship. McKale, on the other hand, was to his credit, a “nice guy” but didn’t treat her as she deserved.. at-least not in the starting! Whether her story would have a “happy ending” or not, Robyn remained surprisingly optimistic and resilient throughout. She fought for the man she loved and did her best to protect her family in the process. It was fun reading about a modern girl’s reactions to the old-fashioned lifestyle of McKale’s clan and watching as she slowly adjusted to her new surroundings.

My Rating: 4.25 stars

Would I recommend it? Yes if you’re looking for a light, quick read

Loved this review. But have you seen the new cover of See me yet posted on Goodreads by the author? It is gorgeous. Also, have you read the Sweet trilogy by the same author?

Lastly, mind checking out my blog? I’m farely new at this thing. (And maybe also a follow, only if you like it though.) But I would love some opinions or advice.

Hey 🙂 Thanks! Oops no. I’ll update the review, thanks for letting me know about that. I tried reading the first book in the Sweet trilogy…but I didn’t like it that much.
So about your blog -> great start! In terms of advice, I’d say that you should check out other book blogs – see what they’re doing and see what you like. If you’ve already done that, then you can start planning and brainstorming more original posts for your blog (e.g. discussion posts). 🙂 Hope this helped!

Oh wow. This book is more interesting than I would’ve thought. Maybe I’ll give it a try! (It’s gonna have to go at the back of my TBR lit though… *sigh*… so long…)
